Ethics and Video Games Podcast

Jul 5, 2022

We’re used to the idea of organizations that try to do good as non-profits, but what about for-profit companies – like the great majority of game companies?  Some for-profit companies are choosing to play a positive role in the world and to do so as a certified B-Corporation.  One of these is ustwo games’, best known for their fantastic Monument Valley games.  We chat with ustwo’s Justin Michaels about what it’s like to be a game company dedicated to doing good as a B-corp.

---------------------------

Our guest, Justin Michaels, is the COO of ustwo games, an independent mobile game development studio based in the UK.  I know them best for their beautiful Monument Valley games, which a couple of our previous guests have mentioned.  Justin leads the operations, finance and commercial teams and helps shape the strategy and planning for the years ahead. Prior to working in the games industry, Justin has held a similar operational role in a mobile ticketing company called DICE, led the start up investment arm of ustwo, done a stint as a management consultant and earned his MBA from INSEAD.
