Is it ever morally wrong to enjoy fantasizing about immoral things in video games? On the one hand, it’s just a fantasy. On the other hand, doesn’t it seem that something might be wrong about painfully torturing, raping, or hunting down minorities in a game, even though it’s all just fantasy? According to philosopher Chris Bartel, it’s not about what you do, but why you do it and who you are. --------------------------- Our guest, Chris Bartel, is a Professor of Philosophy at Appalachian State University. His research interests primarily lie within aesthetics and ethics. He mainly focuses on video games, the philosophy of music, and media ethics. He’s the Author of Video Games, Violence, and the Ethics of Fantasy, which comes out this month – January 2022.
